Connections Information Usage Policy
Homeschool Connections of Central Maryland (Connections) is committed to providing you with excellent services and resources related to facilitating and promoting the intellectual advancement, social development, and community involvement of our homeschooled children.
Additionally, we respect your right to privacy and your expectations for usage of personal information such as email addresses, contact information, etc. In this regard, we have developed this Information Usage Policy to inform you about our guidelines for membership information and resource usage by members and board of directors.
It is important that all members abide by the following policies not only to protect the organization from any legal liabilities, but also to provide a courteous and positive environment for promoting the Connections mission.
Connections Data or Systems are defined as:
Any data on the www.hccmd.org website including but not limited to: discussion forums, photos, family directory, event calendar, and file library.
Any email messages and recipient lists of the allmembers@hccmd.org mailing list including the online archives
Any electronic or paper listing of Family Directory or membership information including email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, childrens names, etc.
Official brochures, publications & other communication which carry the Connections Logo.
Official communications, minutes, documents from the board of directors.
Electronic backups and archives of data or systems
Any other data or systems using the hccmd.org domain or the Connections logo.
Information Usage Policies
The following information usage policies pertain to usage of Connections Data or Systems as defined above.
Connections Data and Systems are for Connection's Members use only.
Use of Connections Data or Systems for solicitation of funds in the name of Connections is forbidden unless all of the funds so raised are placed in the Connections treasury. (this is a by-laws policy)
The content of all Connections Data or Systems shall be related to the Connections community or Homeschooling in general and should comply with the stated mission of Connections with the following exception:

Non-homeschool related messages and content, such as posting personal items for sale, family news, political advocacy, religious promotion, solicitation for member run family businesses, etc. is limited solely to the appropriate forum topic on the website unless a specific usage is approved by the Board of Directors.
If necessary, editorial guidance for such content may be provided by the Board of Directors.

The www.hccmd.org website is the source of record for all Connections Communications. The Connections email list allmembers@hccmd.org is intended to be a supplement to the website and not a primary source of Connections information, (event information, etc..). Not all members elect to use the email distribution list, so critical community details posted to an allmembers@hccmd.org email should be posted on the website as well.
To protect member privacy, the Connections Membership Roster may not be reproduced or distributed to any organization or person outside Connections. Misuse of the Connections Membership Roster will be grounds for termination from Connections. (this is on the registration form all members sign)
Parents, site administrators, and other members of Connections should be sensitive to the degree that young people participate in our family focused Connections System and Data and ensure that content posted is age appropriate and used only in appropriate manners. In all things civility and respect are encouraged and should be the rule.
In no case is the personal information about individual members sold or otherwise shared with advertisers, sponsors, partners or other 3rd parties. Under no circumstances is this information collected or distributed in any form without your prior knowledge and consent.
Failure to abide by these policies could result in board actions ranging from official warnings and notices of non-compliance by the board to partial or full suspension from Connections, or even legal action from the board if necessary to protect Connections interests or members.
